A simple yet luxurious way to prepare porcini mushrooms. The gently breaded and golden-fried slices retain their unique aroma and offer a crispy texture that is an excellent accompaniment to meat dishes or as a standalone vegetarian main course.

Ingredients

Medium to large whole porcini mushrooms, flour, egg, breadcrumbs, oil or butter for frying, salt, pepper.

Instructions

  1. Carefully clean the porcini mushrooms and cut them into horizontal slices about 1 cm thick. 2. Prepare three shallow plates: one with flour, one with a beaten egg, and one with breadcrumbs. 3. First, dredge each mushroom slice in the flour, then dip it into the egg, and finally coat it evenly with the breadcrumbs. 4. Heat oil or butter in a pan. Fry the breaded mushroom slices on each side until golden brown, but not too long to preserve their delicate flavor. 5. Season the finished fried slices with salt and pepper and serve immediately.
